3. Ask for help. Give the viewers a reason to interact with you by asking for their opinion on a research or product rating. You get useful information and keep them thinking about your product for a long time.

4. Simplify the offering. If you have two different products to sell, use two websites. Do not make the mistake of trying to offer too much at once. This might work for major marketers, but they already have a product line and a following.

5. Leave some free space. Prepare a sales page that is easy to read with wide margins. You do not have to fill every inch. Leaving some white space helps the reader to better focus on the copy.

7. Cast with plenty of bait. In your sales copy and squeeze page, put out the bait for your offer again and again. Do not stint on bait. Better too many offers than not enough to convert that buyer who is still uncertain.

8. Find difficulty. Even after your sales page is complete, keep thinking about other difficulties that your product can resolve. You might get a hint of new ways to advertise your product by asking buyers how they use the product.

9. Use moderate highlighting. Yes, highlights draw visual attention but too many highlights or excessive colors frustrate online readers.

10. Package offers are more popular. After presenting your USP, sweeten the offer with a package including several free items as part of the Buy Now deal. Limited time offers create a sense of imperativeness for the buyer to react.

11. Ask for the order. An old principle of sales that must never be ignored - ask for the order, ask again then ask again. You can not ask various times.

12. Say Thank you. Have a gracious, personal sounding, Thank you email with the order confirmation. It never hurts to show good manners and buyer appreciation!

How Recession Creates Online Shoppers

Sunday 10 May 2009 @ 3:05 pm

eBay recently published some new marketing research that shows people are spending more time online shopping now than before the beginning of the current recession.

Compared to six months ago, 30% of European shoppers admit to shopping a lot more online, i.e.:

- 33% in the UK
- 26% in France
- 30% in Germany

However, that is not to say that shoppers are simply finding an item and clicking on the add to shopping cart icon. Most shoppers surveyed said that they have changed habits and are now spending time researching items before they buy, i.e.:

- 73% in Germany
- 69% in the UK
- 66% in France.

Of those who already were in the habit of researching before buying, they have become even more compulsive in their scrutiny before purchasing, i.e.:

- 91% in the UK
- 88% in France
- 83% in Germany.

That’s great news for online retailers! However, are we really seeing the new shoppers turn into buyers? The Internet is doing much better than most bricks and mortar retailers, many of which are closing their doors during this economic downturn, but even the Web hasn’t completely insulated sellers from economic realities.

The U.S. Department of Commerce reported a 4.9% decline in fourth quarter web sales, for example, and most retailers, Internet-based or not, felt that holiday sales were grim.

So where are these discriminating shoppers and how can an online retailer entice them to buy? The 1500 respondents from the UK, France and Germany also revealed that when they are in the e-buying mindset, 60% are most receptive to advertising on ecommerce sites. In contrast, just 9% of European online shoppers pay attention to an ad when they are on a social network. And only 8% are prompted to buy a product or service by video advertising.

This interesting data suggest that, if you need to pull back a bit on your marketing and advertising, you may want to think about being more strategic in your efforts. For example, knowing that there is a good deal of searching and comparing taking place, you may want to place greater emphasis on SEO activities, getting your products onto review sites and using press releases to announce sales and other discounts that are more likely to get picked up by search engines.

If resources are slim, you may want to back off on strategies such as paying bloggers to post on social networking sites and put off new video production if they are costly.

Successful Blogs Create Successful Online Retailers

Saturday 9 May 2009 @ 2:17 pm

Just when you think you have done everything you need to create a successful selling site (fabulous pictures, highly reliable and functional shopping cart and payment gateway, well-thought out policies and customer service system, great products at a fair price, maybe even some solid content that helps your purchasers), you find that the Web has changed again.

Now, with the advent of social media, you need to be more than a sales site, you need to be a social site as well. Yes, that is true and it’s okay, great really. You need to learn some new skills but you will get a great deal in return; you will have a constant, direct path to your customers and that is a wonderful way to continually learn and improve.

So what’ss a blog? According to Wikipedia, A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order.

How is a blog different from a forum or chat area? A forum is generally a more structured setting where users register and select among various discussion threads. Forums are more concretely themed. A blog is more like a running diary that can include comments from anyone who chooses to join. They are not organized by topic.

Why is a blog useful? Blogs provide many advantages.

- You can establish yourself as an expert in your area of retail sales by providing information through your blog.

- Blogs are considered dynamic, i.e., the content is always changing so the search engines are much more interested.

- Blogs are easy to set up and manage with some of the more popular blogging software such as Wordpress.

- You can establish an RSS feed from your blog to your customer so you are always providing fresh new insights and information to them.

- You can interact very directly and casually with your customers. Get to know exactly how they are feeling, pose questions to help you understand the market. The blog is a fabulous research tool!

- Keeps your customers coming back to your site; develops site stickiness!

How do you create a blog? Start with Wordpress, then add Feedburner, which equips site owners to broadcast RSS feeds and develop user metrics. Next, synch up Google Analytics and a sitemap plug-in to simplify populating the blog and developing useful, actionable metrics.

Now you’re ready to use blogging to sell more products!

Creating The Right Optin For Your Squeeze Pages

Tuesday 21 April 2009 @ 11:02 am

Throughout all my years of online business, Squeeze Pages, also known as an Optin page or as my good friend Alex Mandossian calls them; a Shy Yes page; this major question comes up every year and it always ranks the top 5 questions on my list.

The Question is, “What type of optin is better to use on my squeeze page? Single or Double?” Here’s my answer and best solution to this scenario.

This is a very good question because I want to let you know that it is very important not to steer towards a single!

A single Optin is where a prospect gives you their first name and primary Email address and as soon as they click the “Click Here To Get My Goodies” button, they are automatically confirmed without having to check their email account in order to confirm their subscription, before getting the goodies.

Why is this a bad way to set up your subscriptions on your squeeze pages?

It goes like this. What if the prospect that visited your page entered in a bogus first name and Email address? Well they get the goods and you start creating headaches. Why headaches? Well, when you allow automatic confirmation and your Autoresponder service starts sending your programmed Emails to a bogus Email address, you start getting SPAM COMPLAINTS. This is exactly why I highly recommend you use a double for your online squeeze pages.

Here’s why!

A double Optin allows your prospect to enter in their first name and their primary Email address. Your Autoresponder service automatically sends out a confirmation Email to that prospect for them to confirm their subscription before they get the goods. In the mean while, after they clicked the submit button, they are also redirected to a thank you page where they are directed by you that they will not get any goodies until they go to their Email account to confirm their subscription. Once they go to their email account and confirm their subscription, the Autoresponder service automatically redirects them to the thank you page you created with all the goodies available to them.

It is a bit of a pain, I know. When it comes to getting a bad reputation for sending SPAM ATTEMPTS from your Autoresponder service, the extra little work you do will benefit you in the long run of your online business, thus creating no headaches.

Creating the right squeeze page can be one of the most difficult things anyone can ever do. They may look easy, but there is actually a science to creating the perfect squeeze page.

List Building With JV Giveaway Events

Tuesday 14 April 2009 @ 3:27 pm

Are you new to the Internet and are you starting on from scratch. How on earth are you expected to earn an income if you don’t have your own list of subscribers?

Imagine that within 7 days your list size can grow from a tidily 50 or 100 subscribers, to a whopping 1,000 or even 2,000 subscribers.

People LOVE free stuff. And there are three words that can change your list building strategies and it’s called a “JV Giveaway Events”.

JV Giveaway events are events that effectively drive web traffic to your personal or business landing page - helping you in building your list of subscribers. It is made up of a group of marketers who promote related products. A contributor must have something free to offer. Expanding your subscriber database will become much easier!

What is a JV?

JV stands for Joint Venture - A joint venture is a business endeavor that combines two or more entrepreneurs together. The parties join forces to create a new product, service, or website, etc. Now combine that with a Giveaway! You then have two or more parties combining forces to give away free products. Thus we have a Joint Venture Giveaway Event.

Here are the three important necessities required to set up your profile in order to become a contributor.

1 - Your Squeeze Page

You must provide a squeeze page (also known as an opt-in) that contains a sign up form to your free product.

2 - Your Redirect Landing Page

This is the landing page where visitors will be redirected to after they have signed up on your squeeze page. It is normally a thank you page that tells the visitor that they must confirm their email address within their email account before they get their free product.

3 - The Direct Download Page

You must provide your direct download page when setting up your JV Giveaway Event profile to your free gift. This is a must and this is how you get approved to be a part of these great programs. If you do not provide the direct download page link, your gift will not be approved and you will not be able to take part in the program.

In conclusion, this is one of the most cost effective and economical ways to build a secure mailing list and at the same time you are building a know, like and trust relationship with your subscribers as you are giving a valuable product absolutely Free! If you decide to not sign up as an upgraded member to the program, then sign up as a Free contributor and promote the program so that your gift will be displayed.

I look forward to seeing your entries and your success online!

How To Make Money Online By Selling The Same Products As Many Others

Tuesday 24 March 2009 @ 11:45 pm

The differentiation is the answer to the question how to make money online. Your offer just have to stand out from the crowd by giving benefits to the reader in a way, which he regards unique and useful. This is also a main reason to generate residual income.

The Products Are Just Parts Of Your Differentiation But Not In The Main Roles.

You may have seen ads of some brand, where a known person uses that product. This is the strategy with which the brand transfers a part of the image of that person into its image. You can utilize the same tactics in order to make money at home.

When you think your business from the angle of differentiation, you do not hit the problem of the similar products but understand that your way is a unique answer to how to make money online.

You Can Add Services To The Products, Which Offer Unique Benefits.

Your own style is the benefit, which no one can copy. That is the pure fact. When you add your own knowhow to the product, the combination will be unique. Let say you recruit people to join your affiliate program and this same program is very popular having thousands of members.

Now you ask how to make money online with the me to product? With the differentiation of course! Let us take one example. Your target group are newbies, who do not have any earlier experiences. By adding mentoring service, you have a new promise to your target group. It is not anymore the promise of the affiliate program, but the promise, that you will personally help a newbie in the start. What a difference!

The Stronger Your Own Role In The Marketing, The More Unique Your Offer Will Be.

Many times, when I see the site from some big company, it looks very cold. I must have a very big need to find something from there. It just have no persuasion power and there is no human being, who is responsible about it, only a big, global company.

A site of a small online business entrepreneur just have to look very personal and the visitor has to understand that the owner, who has a picture on the site, is responsible about the content. This makes the visitor to feel more safe, because he understands that he can contact the owner whenever he wants.

So as an answer to the question in the title, we do not sell products, we solve the problems the net surfers have by offering them benefits in the form of the information. The products are side benefits, kind of recommendations, to the site visitors.

Juhani Tontti, B.Sc., Marketing. How To Make Money Online. The Only Profitable Tactics Is The Differentiation, Which Requires That Your Personality Is The Tool To Make Money Online, Especially Residual Income.

Maximize Your Branding Power And Make Money At Home

Friday 13 March 2009 @ 8:52 am

But how a brand can make residual income? What actually is a brand? Well, the brand is the fame of some operation or person. It is not a pure name of your online business, or awareness, but the image, which those people has about your business, which has an experience about that.

Different Branding Ways Have Different Power To Make Money At Home.

Most online marketers choose between their own names and the names of their online business, when they think, which is the brand name they will concentrate on.

Because all online businesses are small businesses, the more powerful one will be your own name, because in any case it is you, who is behind the brand.

When you think strategies with which you want make money online, different strategies have differences. The article marketing, email marketing, PPC advertising, blog writing, website, forum posts, social sites, special reports or digital books, they are all very different

When you think how to make money at home, you have to think, with which strategy you want to build a strong brand image, an expert image, out of you. And what kind of experiences you have, which help you to develop that skill.

The More Personal Your Choice, The Stronger Your Brand Will Be.

The stronger and personal your business image is, the better chances you have to make money at home. That is natural, because the idea of the business is to be able to stand out from the crowd. When you write all your marketing messages by yourself, nobody can copy them.

The Writing Skill Produces Good Branding.

It is very simple. The Internet is an information highway and other online marketers are looking for useful information, when they surf online.

When you respond to their special needs with useful information, which you have written by yourself, they start to respect you and at that very moment your brand image gets the kick upwards.

If you compare strategies like PPC or email marketing with the article marketing, blogging and the copy of your own website, the latter ones have better features and abilities to build your brand.

If you think how to make money online during a long period of time, learn to write optimized articles and distribute them to article directories.

One excellent tactics is to produce so called free special reports. This is a really strong way to make money online through brand building. The concept is simple.

You write a report about some specific topic, which is in a big need among the target audience and give it to them for free. Actually, this can be your only business concept.

The Brand Building Takes Time.

If you think the development of one of the big brands, Barack Obama, it took from him several years to become one of the most known names in the world. Your online business does not differ from that procedure.

All advertising, which is actually teaching, is based on repetition. An effective advertising campaign has about four or five contacts with the average person in the target group.

An effective marketing campaign has several campaigns during the year and it takes years to build an image, which fulfils the targets.

All in all, there is no shortcut to online success. The only way is to think the success from the brand building angle. Start it today and you will collect nice fruits later on!

Juhani Tontti, B.Sc., Marketing. It Is Easy To Make Money At Home Once, But If You Want Residual Income The Strong Brand Is The Only Way.
