Why Send Ecards To Your Loved Ones?

Monday 20 July 2009 @ 11:49 pm

It would seem we are now in the age of the virtual world, where you can text your friends and send ecards for special occasions. If you search online for ecards you will find numerous companies that offer electronic cards to send to your friends for any occasion, be it their birthday, graduation or a special holiday. So why do we send cards anyway? Whether they are electronic or made from paper, cards have been a popular mode for many years of expressing feelings and gratitude to one another.

Before the internet, cards were hand picked and sent through the post. Since the internet however more and more ecards have been sent instead. Ecards are location friendly so you can send your wishes anywhere across the world for free to friends and family no matter how far away they are. You also are helping save the environment by choosing to send electronic cards as there is no paper used or other packaging and they do not have to be delivered by a form of transport.

You should not underestimate the choice that is available regarding ecards, online you can find cards for literally any event. So if you want to send holiday greetings or celebrate a religious festival it is all made easy and available with the ecard. Not only that but some cards are actually made of a flash animation that can be up to 30 seconds. Considering how cheap that is to send worldwide in comparison to posting an actual card it is easy to see why they are so popular.

Most of the sites that you find online for cards are free, and additionally to this there are ecards that you can print off for free and have as your own. Almost all of the cards that are online are easily printed off too, meaning that if you need a card quickly for an occasion it can all be done with the click of a mouse. Some companies do charge however, but this only a small amount for a membership which comes with many benefits, some of the ecards I have seen that cost are far better than those that are offered online as free.

So to get sending your ecards, simply register to a company online, (its better to register to a site as it will be easier to find it again if you like it). Browse through their collection and see if there is anything you like or that is appropriate for the occasion and select the card you like. Then you can simply print off the card and send it straight away or you can email it to the recipient instantly.

6 Reasons For Using a Quick and Easy Free Website Builder

Thursday 16 July 2009 @ 9:54 pm

The reasons I will share with you are things I discovered for myself when I first entered the web of intrigue some of which were quite painfull.

1. If you are just starting an Internet business you are naturally going to want to keep your running costs to a minimum. You may not have a large budget to spend on expensive web designers and flashy websites with all the bells and whistles, so a quick and easy free website builder maybe exactly what you’re looking for in terms of accessibility and expenditure.

2. With web design software freely available on the internet anyone can build a website even your granny! I know you’re probably thinking to yourself I don’t know anything about computers or programming I could never build a website! You see but that’s the brilliant thing about these quick and easy free website builders You don’t have to. These software packages offer simple interfaces modelled on common word processors and, use a function called WYSIWYG or ( What You See Is What You Get). Simply type, insert, or drag and drop the information where you want it, click save and your done. Some even come with pre-designed templates for you to insert your content.

3. Learning to use a quick and easy free website builder is fast too! And here’s why You will not be saddled with some 2000 word text manual, filling your head with technical jargon for which you need a PHD Degree to understand. Instead you will have access to step by step tutorials showing you in great detail how to use the software therefore, eliminating lost time spent studying. Plus if your actual website builder does not come with tutorials you’ll be able to find them online for free!

4. Many of the WYSIWYG editors are very simple to use, of course some are more complex than others as is the case with most products within any given market. Your task is to choose the one that is most compatible to your needs. However they all offer an extremely user friendly interface based on standard word processors. If you are familiar with Microsoft Office or its free online counterpart Open Office you will find the layout in free website builders to be almost identical with the same access to tools, edit functions, fonts, saving options etc. So if you can type a letter in principle you can build a website!

5. One big advantage to making your own websites is time. Let me explain, when you enlist the services of a web design company you are at the mercy of their schedule not yours! You may have to wait 5-6 weeks for your website to be ready depending on their expected turn around it could be less depending how much you want to pay. Some companies offer express packages if you’re willing to pay for the privilege. In that time you could have built 3 or 4 websites yourself!

6. This last and final point is something I found to be quite difficult when dealing with web design companies, especially when I first started out online. And that is getting them to do exactly what I asked them to do!

Because you are not dealing with them face to face, its hard really to get your points across. They would quite often speak to me in technical jargon, knowing full well I couldn’t understand what they were saying leaving me vulnerable, and having to accept their decisions because I was green around the ears, needless to say it was a costly lesson to learn!

At least if you start to teach yourself how to create websites, you are then in a better position to communicate your specific design requirements in the future when dealing with web design companies or freelance designers.

So there you have it my 6 reasons for using a quick and easy free website builder to save costs, because you don’t need technical knowledge, you get step by step tutorials, they are very user friendly, it saves you time and gives you complete control over the look and feel of your website.

I hope you have found this article helpful and in the future you decide to use a quick and easy free website builder.

Build Your Own Website Free

Monday 13 July 2009 @ 5:47 pm

Not so long ago the prospect of building a website scared the be-jesus out of me. The thought of spending countless hours sifting through pages and pages and pages of HTML (hyper text markup language) seemed a never ending task, resulting in frustration and anger.

The alternative was to pay a professional to build websites for you, this too was not always fruitful, not least because of the costs involved. If you’re running on a tight budget it may not prove cost effective to hire a web guy. Especially if you are just beginning your online adventure, add to that finding a web company that is sympathetic to your inexperience is often quite tricky, you may find getting your specific requirements hard.

So what a god send when clever webmasters started to produce technology which enabled ordinary folk to build their own websites and for free!

At last you could build your own website free no strings and without knowing a stitch of html programming so how do you do it?

First to build your own website free you will need to do a little research online seeking out the best software for you! If you just want a html editor you can find many of these online. You can even find free website templates which you can open with an editor and then simply insert your content, such as logo, header graphics, text, navigation, images etc. And be ready to upload in minutes!

Another way is to keep everything in house under one roof so to speak, and download a free website builder that offers you the option of creating a website from scratch, or to build your website free with templates already installed within the program. This option will give you a multitude of options and design capabilities plus the bonus of saving you precious time and money.

Once you have your software you can start to plan how to build your website. Next you will need to register your domain name, you can do this in many places such as GoDaddy or Namedaddy, then you will want to consider hosting. Now hosting is where your site will be viewed from, think of it like this, your domain name is the street where your house is your hosting is the number where your house is situated on the street!

Now, you can have either free hosting or set up a hosting account. Both offer pros and cons but if I were to choose I would always opt for a paid hosting account as they are professional and far more reliable. Also with free hosting accounts you may have to put up with annoying text or banner advertising on your website in order for the hosting company to create some revenue from you, this is fine if your website is just for personal use but if you want to create a business image this will not come across well.

So Now you are ready to make your website open up your free web tool, choose a template and drag and drop in your content when you’re done simply publish your content to the world! Oh yes I forgot to mention when you choose your free website creator make sure it comes with full tutorials on how to use the thing, or you could be spending time trying to figure things out!

So to build a website for free search for free website software then register a domain name get affordable hosting (you could do both in the same place) then make your website that’s it told you it was simple!

I hope you found this short article useful and you have a better idea of how you can build your own website free.

The Best Free Website Editors!

Tuesday 7 July 2009 @ 9:56 pm

When choosing a free website editor you will need to ask yourself some questions because there are so many of them online now, there seems very little to choose between them at least on the surface.

So first ask yourself what will I (you) have to do to use this free website editor? Do I have to know html? Do I have to agree to host my website with the same company for using the software? Does the software come with easy to edit templates installed?

The best free website editors come with tutorials showing you how to use the software and should offer no strings attached. You can find completely free website editors such as, The Free Html Editor or free open source software like NVU.

Powerful software tools with easy to use interfaces, with no strings attached enable you to create professional looking websites very quickly and you don’t need any experience as you can find full video tutorials offering complete step by step guides perfect for the newbie!

No big thick text book with pages and pages of technical jargon that you simply can’t understand and frankly don’t want to understand, instead just click the mouse button and watch then repeat what you saw simple!

These are by no means the only totally free website editors, you can find many others but you will have to look carefully to dig out the gems.

The truth is this, many of the so called free website editors are in fact only free provided you agree to certain conditions like registering your domain name with the service or agreeing to host your website with the service. Examples of this are Blue Voda or Weebly.com. And then depending on the type of hosting package you agree you may well end up with unsightly banner advertisements on your website.

Even popular software like Dreamweaver and Microsoft Frontpage now (Expression Web) are only free for a trial period and can be incredibly expensive and complicated to use.

Most of your time will be spent trying to figure out how to use the program rather than cranking out websites quickly, I mean they are perfect if you really want to learn programming but if you just want to drag and drop copy and paste you need to go another way, if you are familiar with a word processor like Microsoft Word then a WYSIWYG editor will be easy for you to use featuring the same type of layout.

If you’re looking for the best free website editor make sure you do extensive searches for the one that is quick easy and simple to use with no hidden catches.

I hope you have found this article helpful in your search for the best free website editors.

Twitter Lessons To Help You Use Social Media Effectively

Thursday 25 June 2009 @ 3:43 pm

The last year has been a Twitter renaissance for hundreds of professionals around the world. With the recent article in Entertainment Weekly telling us the Truth About Twitter, it is becoming obvious that thousands of business professionals will be adopting Twitter as a business tool in 2009.

The following are a list of lessons I have learned in my Tweet time.

1. Search: Simply put www.search.twitter.com is your friend-use it till it breaks! You can search the keyword terms that are important to your business. You can also RSS that search, it will update real time.

Check back to Twitter often and connect with the Twitter folk who mention your keywords. Chances are that will lead to serendipitous business opportunities.

2. Say hello and Re-tweet often: Saying hello to past business partners, friends and targeting companies you would like connect with will serve you well. One way to break the ice is to re-tweet posts of people you are looking to connect with deeper.

Also, dont be shy! Saying hello to business folks who can strategically help your business is the only way Twitter will work for you. The nerdy kid at the dance wont get shot down unless he asks.

Who knows, maybe the girl in pigtails will say yes!

3. Comment: Comment on valuable Twitter posts. If a link is shared in that past, be sure to click on the link and comment with a link back to your blog and Twitter profile. Commenting shows interest and interest is currency in Twitter.

4. Dont ever close a door: Unless the follower is SPAM, dont close the door on followers who at first blush do not look like they can help your cause. Thank them for the follow and share a pertinent link to them via a direct tweet. You never know when serendipitous business opportunities will find you.

5. Use Hashtags: #Hashtags are a great way for your twitter account to be found for the keywords and terms important to your business. For example, if your business is hamburgers, then it makes sense to use the following hashtags: #hamburgers or #cheeseburgers & #condiments

6. Share: Your company should have a corporate account to share tidbits of knowledge daily. At least ten twitter posts per day using keywords from a yet to be established keyword list. 60 percent should be of the thought leadership variety, while 40 percent of the posts should talk about the Twitter profiles life. The corporate account should be purely talking about company happenings and posting links for link juice. while responding to mentions. Always post an opinion on industry specific news.

7. Use a Template: Create a template thank you note for every new follower. This template will link to the companys website and be accompanied by a thank you with a clear call to action.

Twitter is a marketing tool that if used correctly can put your brand in front of the right eye balls, it just takes work and a strategy. These best practices help you use Twitter the correctly out of the gate.

A Look At Google Alerts and Its Benefits To Your Business

Monday 8 June 2009 @ 10:50 am

If you are conducting business on the Internet, you already know that it is mind boggling to try and keep up with everything that is constantly happening in the cyber world.

Unlike a bricks and mortar store setting, where competitive moves are necessarily slower, giving you time to think and respond, the Internet encourages a constant assault of new information, new strategies, changing algorithms and new ways to connect. It is very difficult to keep up but if you want to be competitive, you need to find ways to stay on top of your marketplace, your product space and your competitors.

One of the best free tools to do so is Google Alerts. If you have never used this tool, now is the time to get started. If you are using it in a limited way, such as to keep you abreast of news stories for your industry, you should know that you can substantially broaden your information capture net.

Google Alerts is a system that searches the Web, news, blogs, video and groups for any new information related to any search term that you specify. Emails are automatically sent to you when there are new Google results. The emails are sent on whatever schedule you designate or the information can be stored within your Google Alerts account.

Google Alerts currently offers 6 variations of alerts - News, Web, Blogs, Comprehensive, and Video and Groups.

- News alert is an email aggregate of the latest news articles that contain the search terms of your choice and appear in the top ten results of your Google News search.

- A Web alert is an email aggregate of the latest web pages that contain the search terms of your choice and appear in the top twenty results of your Google Web search.

- A Blogs alert is an email aggregate of the latest blog posts that contain the search terms of your choice and appear in the top ten results of your Google Blog search.

- A Comprehensive alert is an aggregate of the latest results from multiple sources (News, Web and Blogs) into a single email to provide maximum coverage on the topic of your choice.

- A Video alert is an email aggregate of the latest videos that contain the search terms of your choice and appear in the top ten results of your Google Video search.

- A Groups alert is an email aggregate of new posts that contain the search terms of your choice and appear in the top fifty results of your Google Groups search.

If you do not have a Google account, you can create one easily and free. You can then establish your list of Google alerts.

To maximize the value of this service, create a variety of alert requests using the names of your competitors (so you can see how their websites are changing), yourself (so you can see what Google is picking up about you and your site), the industry so you can see any movement taking place, the products so you can see what is newly entering the marketplace. It is an incredibly powerful tool and it’s free!

How to Find a Foreclosure Property in Arizona

Saturday 6 June 2009 @ 1:25 am

Are you interested in finding a foreclosure property in Arizona to buy? This article will provide you with information about finding foreclosures and some tips that will help you locate the right site and the right agent. Whether you’re a first time home buyer or a real estate investor, the following information will be beneficial to you.

Foreclosure is the legal and professional proceeding in which a mortgagee, or other lien holder, usually a lender, obtains a court ordered termination of a mortgagor’s equitable right of redemption. Many homes go into foreclosure because the homeowner stops making payments. This can happen for many reasons including losing your job/income, becoming unable to work due to medical reasons, carrying too much debt, going through a divorce, etc.

The circumstances that put a home into foreclosure are unfortunate and unpredictable, and in today’s economy, homeowners are losing their homes at an alarming rate. As unsettling this economic reality may be, bank owned homes can be a real opportunity for buyers. Prices have never been lower, and if you’re a first time home buyer or a real estate investor, this presents an unprecedented buying opportunity. The market is now flooded with vacant homes that are being sold below their appraised value, which makes finding a foreclosure property a good investment.

If you are thinking about finding a foreclosure property in Arizona to buy, you’re in the right place!

There are thousands of websites online that offer foreclosure listings. Some of them are free; others aren’t. Foreclosure listings in the State of Arizona are public information, so you should focus on finding free foreclosure listings. In fact, a simple Google search using the terms ‘free foreclosure listings Arizona’ should bring up enough results to keep you busy for days!

Now that you have all of these results, how do you know which site is the best? Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re trying to find a foreclosure property:

First, make sure the site is really free. You should be able to search all available foreclosure properties without having to give up your credit card information. If a credit card is required to do a ‘free’ search, go find another site!

Next, you should test the site’s search capabilities. Some sites will provide residential foreclosure listings only; some will provide commercial property listings; others will provide both. What is important is that they have the listings you’re interested in and that you’re able to refine your search to narrow down the results. Being able to define your unique criteria (location, price range, size, condition, age, etc.) is crucial when there are so many listings available.

You should also take into consideration how current the listings are. Some websites do not update their listings often and you could be missing out on a lot of great opportunities to buy homes that aren’t in the search results. Websites with access local information and who update their sites regularly are a better source of information and tend to be armed with the most current foreclosure listings available.

Finally, you should find out who owns the website. It would be in your best interest to use a site that is run by trusted real estate broker or agent with experience buying and selling foreclosures. An experienced agent can help you identify the right foreclosure properties in Arizona, provide property comparables and valuations, and make sure the process of searching goes as smoothly as possible.

Facebook & Twitter Are Not The ONLY Social Media Channels

Friday 29 May 2009 @ 11:11 am

When I look at my Netvibes account I see so many blog posts about Facebook and Twitter. Being a Social Media Consultant it is in my best interest to stay up to date on the tools that have the most business relevance.

I found it increasingly frustrating to have the “cool kids” on the block constantly being mentioned. So with that, I have a list of the tools that are making waves and provide real business value from my perspective:

1. twInfluence is a killer tool that performs Twitter analytics.

2. Twitalyzer- Twitalyzer very proudly measures your impact and success in social media. This is a strong claim and Twitalyzer accomplishes part of the claim. A great product.

3. Wiggio provides a Twitter-like message stream from all the group members. But it also includes a ton of valuable features such as a shared calendar, mass text and voice messaging, file-sharing (including online docs and spreadsheets) and polling.

4. File Social. Upload full files onto Twitter. Great idea!

5. Xobni(inbox spelled backwards) and its a little widget(5 minuts to set up) for Outlook. It runs down the right side of Outlook and you can minimize if you want. It pulls in all the public data from one of your email contacts online personalities (facebook, linkedin, etc.), searches all the emails you have sent and received to and from that person.

6. Skribit- Skribit cures writers block by enabling bloggers and writers to receive post suggestions from their readers to the Skribit community. Any time you can engage your peers-DO IT. But one word of caution, if you open the suggestion can of worms-you best follow through on those suggestions.

7. Tweetizen is a cleaver tool that I would recommend to anyone with a niche website. If your web presence encompasses a wide spectrum of subjects, the Tweetizen tool might be a bit cumbersome to draw in all the keywords. But if you can think of three keywords that encompass your web presence, then there is the value.

8. Reddit widget that keeps me informed of hot topics being bookmarked

9. Crowdvine is focusing on providing a cost effective solution for conference creators.

10. Techrigy- Monitor your brands reputation-real time! You can even get a free account to test drive it. I can say the product tells a great story. I have little doubt that solutions like this will become standard practice to recognize ROI with all Social Media engagements.

11. Eventvue- The company is another Social Media solution for the pathetic Conference industry. I have not been able to do a demo yet, but they are really cool, passionate and provide a solution you would expect. I am not clear on pricing, and find the website to be rather vague. But the 3 minute screen cast showed me enough to feel as though it could be a viable solution.

As you can see, Social Media Channels are not just Twitter and Facebook. There are many great tools that can help drive your business to new levels.

Tweeting with Twitter’s Sweet New TweetDeck

Thursday 7 May 2009 @ 1:17 am

Twitter.com has this very cool new service in beta-test mode that will allow you to download a small application to your computer that provides an instant-access portal to your twitter account so you can receive messages and updates from the people you follow in real-time.

TweetDeck is a free service, of course, just like Twitter itself, but for your desktop. The goal of TweetDeck is to simple fulfill the overall purpose of Twitter: connecting people with the answer to a simple question, ‘what are you doing right now?’

TweetDeck does the things you’d expect like allowing you to update your status, create a personalized dashboard for accessing your timely Twitter info, sync with Facebook, view your direct inbound messages as well as conversations with other Twitter members, and even create groups to match up with friends or others with shared interests.

If you’re not registered to tweet from your cell phone, make sure you get on that right away. In the menu when you’re logged in, there is an option for registering your phone which is a must if you’re looking to be a big-leaguer at the Twitter game. You’ll need an unlimited messaging plan from your mobile carrier, but at usually $20 per month, it’s a good thing to do since you’ll likely become highly addicted to telling the world where you are and what you’re doing at any (and every) given moment.

Bosses, managers and business owners may not like to admit it, but it is during the work day that most people tweet. Once they get home, they don’t want to tweet anymore. If you want to get the most followers, you need to be online when the rest of the world is. Fire up the computer and start tweeting during the nine to five workday.

But let’s face it- this is, and has been for the last couple of years ever since youtube and myspace jumped on the scene with millions upon millions of members, the age of instant-connects through social networking, and Twitter is leading the pack with Facebook in new activity. Twitter is different because it is quick and more fun. You can have your twitter account up and running inside of 2 minutes and fully-customized in five. But make sure that when you do download your TweetDeck that you sign up also for the ‘12-seconds account’ so you can include video posts with your updates. This is where the interaction really comes into play-you can record a video in your cell phone, upload it to twitter, and ten seconds later, it seems like, go and find your friend’s video reply right there.

You can sign up for TweetDeck at Twitter’s page: http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/ and it’s a quick and easy installation that will work on both Macs and PCs since it is Adobe Flash based. The download and installation will take less than two minutes on a broadband connection and it’s well worth it. Plus, once you’re up and running you’ll be greeted by a pleasant little chirp whenever one of your Twitter friends updates their activity. Good app, Twitter!

Free Ringback Tones are For Everyone

Thursday 26 March 2009 @ 9:32 pm

Most people who know what ringback tones are feel like they are for kids only, and that could not be more wrong. Free ringback tones are for everyone.

Everyone in the world loves some type of music. It may be country, rock, jazz, opra or maybe even heavy metal. Does’nt matter because free ringback tones are flexible. That means you can find them for any type of music and now everyone can enjoy them.

I remember driving from houston to dallas one evening and I began thinking of my grandmother which is in her mid 80’s. I decided to her and I could’nt help but develop a huge smile on my face when instead of hearing that same old ring ring ring, I heard a ringback tone call “wake up little susie” I’m not sure of the artist of that song, but that ringback tone cheered me immediately.

After my grandma answered she heard the smile in my voice immediately and knew I loved her ringback tone.

I asked her where she bought it and she told me from a website she found by search for ringback tones. But she went on to say that she did’nt actually buy it that she got it for free. I was shocked at this because I’ve always paid for my ringback tones.

Free ringback tones are for everyone and they are free. My grandma being in her 80’s uses them and so do my kids and I.

So join in the fun and take advantage of yours today. Put a smile on your callers face and you’ll be amazed at the feedback you’ll get.

Callback and ringback tones have become one of the most popular accessory with cell phones today. Unfortunately, all phones are not equiped to handle these tones. You can call your provider for details or look up their website to find out.

Once you have your detailed infomation from you provider you are ready to search for your free tones. Be aware of those sites that really are not free at all. Remember to read every detail of every ad so that when you decide to download a ringtone or callback tone you know what you are getting.

You are equiped with many different areas to search for these tones. Ezine article is a good place to start. You can search for articles about ringback and callback tones that will guide you in your search.

Once you have chosen them uniquely assign them to each of your callers so that they can begin to enjoy that call to you. Remember to take your time and find the right ones to fit your callers.

My partner and I do an enormous amount of research everyday on the web and we enjoy informing others of what we find. Visit us at free ringback tones
