Should You Be Worried About Global Warming?

Tuesday 16 June 2009 @ 5:51 pm

When you hear about the effects of world wide warming it’s vital to understand that the effects we are experiencing today are moderate compared to what the future will see if we don’t take preventative action. Over the next century researchers and environmental professionals are stating that the effects of world wide warming will continue on a consistent inclined curve. Temperatures heating up a little bit each ten years until the earth’s temperatures reach the sweltering levels that we accomplished in history. Scientists believe that the earth’s temperatures will rise between 2 to 9 degrees Fahrenheit by 2050.

The Arctic and the earth’s northern latitudes will feel the a lot of the effects of world wide warming as they continue to escalate. As the Arctic packs and glaciers start to melt from the increased temperatures the tundra and seas surrounding the places will continue to absorb the warmth which was once reflected back in space. Climate models show that if temperatures throughout the remainder of the world rise to 3 degrees Fahrenheit they’ll more than likely rise to a minimum of 7 degrees Fahrenheit around Arctic. From this the oceans throughout the world will become full with melting glaciers and ice from the Arctic likely to rise by a minimum of 3 feet.

As the temperatures continue to rise this will force the ocean to evaporate faster and for that reason more rainfall will be accomplished. The issue with this effect is that the rainfall might hit places of the world which don’t need it at all causing massive floods and monsoons. Subtropical places like India are expected to be the target of this particular effect of world wide warming. On the flip side it’s safe to say that droughts are going to be more of an issue than flooding.

There are predictions that the future effects of world wide warming might have its benefits also. Around northern part of the world like Canada, the warmer temperatures will mean longer increasing seasons and more rainfall. This of course then will put an end to any food shortage that might be that occurs and give a recent sense of prosperity to countries throughout the world which were struggling to survive.

Many of the changes and effects listed above are already taking place today on a smaller scale of course. Sea levels are rising because of thermal expansion of the ocean, along with melting of land ice. Amounts and patterns of precipitation are changing also.except only a little as compared to what has been predicted for the future. Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns increase the frequency and intensity of other extreme weather events like floods, droughts, heat waves, and tornadoes.

Other effects of world wide warming involve larger or lower agricultural yields, further glacial retreat, reduced summer stream flows and species extinctions. As a further effect of world wide warming, diseases like malaria are returning in places where they were suppressed earlier. This is only the start of the effects world wide warming can have on our earth. As the greenhouse gases continue to increase and enter the atmosphere these effects are only going to increase in severity creating it harder and harder to maintain our quality of life.

Fighting Global Warming is Impossible. Fighting Global Warming Means War on the Sun!

Monday 15 June 2009 @ 3:43 pm

Does the average person know what greenhouse gases are, or even what the term Global Warming means? They may think they do, but the average layman’s information comes not from reliable scientific sources, but from media reportage - science as ordered by the government.

Fighting global warming is a term as misleading and unscientific as those who coined it - it is also morally wrong, denouncing years of sound and proven scientific research. The public are being manipulated by a scientific press, whose main role is to appease the IPCC.

Vague and nebulous ‘facts’ are thrown in our faces, whilst the real truths are buried under propaganda permafrost. Otherwise intelligent people will declare that of course they know what Global Warming is: A Very Bad Thing that they are somehow responsible for.

They will shop - reluctantly - for low power light bulbs to reduce their ‘carbon footprint’ - without even understanding what a carbon footprint is. They will never stop to think, but how can anyone fight something that has dominated our planet for billions of years; that is as essential to life now as when it first evolved?

Here are a few facts that make total nonsense of any argument saying we should be fighting global warming. The Earth’s climate is controlled by its proximity to the sun, its uniquely eccentric orbit, and the effects of the moon and a host of geological phenomena.

The Earth is a truly unique planet - totally unstable, constantly bathed in the sun’s radiation… life should never have evolved here, but somehow it did. The Earth is dependent upon greenhouse gases for life; the most abundant greenhouse gas is not Carbon Dioxide, but water vapor - a word curiously absent from any argument about fighting global warming.

Without greenhouse gases, life would never have evolved.

OUR CLIMATE IS MORE STABLE THAN EVER

The Earth has a history of dramatic and colossal climate change going back millions of years; these changes are cyclical in nature, and are closely linked to the sun.

The more extreme the climate, the more extreme evolution becomes; inevitably some species will adapt, whilst others die out.

Life is still evolving and will continue to do so; evolution is the science of change. Global warming is happening across our solar system, not just on Earth - there are no Martians (so far as we know) worrying about their carbon emissions!

The IPCC have cherry picked certain ‘facts’ to prove their argument whilst totally ignoring important data that proves the opposite.

GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT NEW

The most important of which, is that CO2 levels are preceded by climate change. Global warming leads to an increase in CO2, rather than the other way about. Thus, how can man’s burning of fossil fuels lead to climate change?

In addition, CO2 levels in the past (before the Industrial Revolution) were far higher than they are now. Even so, there is no evidence they had any effect on climate change.

The one constant running through these results is that of severe and periodic climate change. There is ample data for this, spanning hundreds of thousands of years. All other factors are random variables - and this includes CO2 levels.

Mankind’s effect on greenhouse gas emissions is miniscule, and his effect on the climate non-existent. The most fundamental law of our universe is that of entropy, the science of chaos. Global warming obeys this law, in a way government findings most definitely do not.

But then, the debate on fighting global warming isn’t about science - it’s about government control.

Cause of Earthquakes Compared to a Litter of Puppies

Friday 12 June 2009 @ 5:32 pm

Earthquakes are indeed a reaction of the earth itself to the calamitous emotions being felt by the inhabitants. This is so very difficult for humans to understand and accept. Perhaps the following analogy will help with this understanding.

Picture a dog (planet earth) with a litter of puppies (humanity), say a large litter of sixteen. These puppies nurse from the mother dog, but they also crawl all over her playing. Let’s assume that they are all in a cardboard box which limits the area the puppies have to roam. They more or less are forced to live their life on top of their mother’s body. As they grow larger, they also come into the animal instinct in very strong degrees. These animal instincts bring on fights and upheaval is prevalent at all times within this box.

At first the mother tries to control her brood by giving warnings and little nips and perhaps growls, but it soon becomes impossible to struggle against them. She resigns herself to this sort of activity on her body and slowly but surely the vibrations of the fighting dogs begin to wear away at her vital organs.

It first affects the muscles of her body which causes her to not be able to move out of the way of the puppies into the corner of the box. She is slowly becoming paralyzed. As the puppies continue to fight they are also continuing to nurse and get their sustenance from the mother dog. As the mother dog’s muscles become paralyzed partly from the vibrations that are constantly being sent into her body through their nursing and their animal instincts when fighting, she can no longer consume enough food or digest it in order to provide the milk to nurse the puppies.

The milk processing plant of her digestive system is the first to shut down. The other organs soon follow suit, but then a strange event will take place. There will become a period of time when the animal instinct body of the mother will take over and rise up as energy, unbelievable energy, in an effort to save her own life. She will find the strength to stand up and shake her body and thus shake loose the puppies and scatter them against the sides of the box. This is an inborn instinctual happening that actually would take place with humans who were being destroyed in the same manner if this were ever to take place.

At times this instinct will show up in humans as they prepare to die, but in most cases it does not, due partly to drugs that are used and also to the fact that man is leaving his instincts behind as he evolves. This is one of the instincts that survived the transition from the animal stage to the human stage, but it has slowly been bred out of the race because it was not needed as strongly in humans as in the animal kingdom.

This mother has now reestablished her power in the cardboard box and the puppies settle down, learn to eat other nourishment that is given them and not continue to feed off the mother dog. This heals her digestive system allowing nutrients from her food to heal the other organs of her body. If the puppies are not removed from the box the whole set of circumstances will take place over and over again until the puppies stop fighting and calm down their vibrations to peaceful and loving cooperation with each other and the mother dog.

This can be related to the human communities affected by not only earthquakes but also by all disasters. You can readily see the analogy of humans living of top of the mother earth. When they fight and bring forth their animal instincts they affect the harmonious pre-planned functioning of the mother as being the one able to provide sustenance.

Please keep in mind that the human body is made up of material of the earth. The same way our bodies are sensitive seismic instruments of stress, so also is the earth from which these bodies were fashioned. It is made up of exactly the same material.

The first thing affected in the mother dog was the muscles. The comparison of this to the earth is the plates that allow movement of the continents, just as the muscles of the dog allow movement of the dog. As these muscles in the dog become weak and stop her ability to process any of the bodily functions, so also does the stoppage of the movement of the plates affect other processes in the earth. These other processes that are affected are the cause of floods, fires, volcanoes, tornadoes, snowstorms, lightning, and hurricanes. All the other natural disasters that take place are the result of the stoppage of the movement of the plates which is caused by the animal instinct emotional upheavals that the humans living on the mother earth’s body are sending into her body.

When things get to the point of being no longer bearable, the natural instincts of the mother will surge forth, she will stand up and shake (an earthquake will take place) to remove the burden of the parasites living on her body and taking their sustenance from her nourishment. Then there will be a healing process until the whole thing happens again.

Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder - Stop The Madness!

Wednesday 10 June 2009 @ 10:38 am

If you are looking for a squirrel proof bird feeder that actually works, you need to look for certain features. First, not all squirrel proof feeders do the job as many of you bird watchers know. Squirrels are highly intelligent, crafty little beings that are determined to crack the squirrel proof code and steal your bird seed.

Before even putting up your squirrel-free feeder, let us start by setting up a defensive feeding environment and implement all available strategies. Did you know that squirrels are excellent jumpers, 10 feet plus? So if there is any kind of launching pad within 10 feet of your feeder, for example, fences, rooftops, trees, assume they will make it to your feeder.

Squirrels will chew your wooden feeder to bits. You will need a feeder that at the very least has metal reinforced feeding ports. Also place baffles below and above your feeder to keep squirrels out. You must take every measure possible to discourage this most determined, undaunted mammal. One thing not to do is grease mounting poles unless you know you are using a non-toxic substance and that animals will not be harmed if the substance gets on them.

Some squirrel proof bird feeders have gravity shut devices on them so that when a heavy squirrel sits on the perch at the feeding port, it closes a door so the animal cannot get to the seed. Get a feeder where the perch is very small so that a squirrel has to make a lot of effort to balance on it and does not have time to sit comfortably and figure a way in to the seed.

Do not get a squirrel proof feeder that requires batteries. It is just one more thing that requires attention and additional expense which is not necessary. There is also no need to get an electric-shocking feeder. We are feeding birds to enjoy watching wildlife in the great outdoors and at the same time torturing others? Squirrels can be a nuisance, but there are other ways of deterring them with feeders that will hurt them.

For general purposes, get a feeder that is easy to clean. Some feeders can be thrown right into the dishwasher. It is important to keep feeders clean so that birds do not get sick from fungus, bacteria and from contagious bird diseases that can be transferred among each other from the feeder.

In conclusion, do not be discouraged. It is possible to have a peaceful bird watching experience at your feeders without squirrels ruining your day. Take these preventative measures and look for bird feeders with these features to stop the madness.

Here are some more tips about choosing a squirrel proof bird feeder so that your bird seed is for feeding the birds, not crafty squirrels.

Flowers and Happiness - Exploring the Link

Thursday 4 June 2009 @ 11:01 am

Do you remember the last time you received flowers? Think about what you felt at that moment. What did you feel upon seeing perhaps that big bouquet of roses from your husband, or those bright, cheerful tulips your son gave you for Mothers Day? Most probably you will remember feelings of gratitude, happiness and an overall feeling of joy.

That doesn’t really come as a surprise. Experts have long ago established the link between flowers and happiness. Nature has long been providing us with simple but effective ways to alleviate stress, induce relaxation and lift our general emotional and mental health. Just being surrounded by flowers can trigger a more heightened sense of satisfaction in life, which can be translated to more kindness and compassion towards other people.

Rutgers study explored the link between flowers and happiness and found several surprising facts. Although we already know that flowers are linked to emotions, we did not know the extent of such a link. Now we know that flowers not only have an impact on happiness, they have an immediate impact on happiness. Upon receiving flowers, participants in their 10-month study expressed supreme delight, shown through ‘genuine’ and ‘excited’ smiles. This phenomenon is true for all age groups. Flowers and happiness go hand in hand regardless of age.

The study also found other things about flowers and happiness. The positive effect that flowers have on people lasts for a long time. The long-term joy that people feel when they are surrounded by flowers translates to less feelings of depression and anxiety and a better sense of life satisfaction and enjoyment.

Another surprising fact about flowers and happiness is that simply being surrounded by flowers increases interpersonal communications between people. The study shows that when people display flowers in their homes, the generally feel more cheerful. When people display their flowers in their homes, such as in their living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and foyers, it makes the place more inviting and more conducive for welcoming guests.

Ultimately, they are able to carry these positive feelings even as they step outside their homes. They bring in their positive vibes as they interact with people in the workplace, for example. Flowers can help enhance productivity in the workplace and help both long and short term memory. Indeed, even senior citizens report being able to cope with the challenges of aging better when they are surrounded by flowers. Flowers and happiness, it seems, cannot be separate from one another.

Today, some people practice flower therapy which is centered in the belief that our emotional and even mental states can be improved through the use of flowers. The benefits we reap from flower therapy are related to factors such as the form, smell and color of a flower. Red roses, for example, may stimulate our adrenal glands and make us more active.

Sunflowers can boost our energy and make us more hopeful and optimistic. Irises can make us more confident while bluebells can help us get that important good nights sleep.

From Water Tankers To Water Tanks Recycle Your Water This Summer

Tuesday 2 June 2009 @ 7:03 pm

Most of us never have to worry about water; we just presume that when we turn on the tap, water will wash out without any concern. The only time we tend to take notice of water is when in the summer it doesn’t rain for a month or two and the council impose a hose pipe ban. One of the best ways to avoid this, especially if you are an avid gardener is to recycle your water. There are many ways to collect and recycle rainwater but here in this article we shall look at the cost effective and most efficient way.

It is easy to take water completely for granted whilst living within the UK, even in emergencies when water supplies have run short in certain areas or at festivals, large water tankers are sent in with vast amounts of water to be used as a surrogate supply. Water tankers are all very well for huge emergencies but cannot be justified for watering the garden! It is thought that an estimated 3000 litres of water can be saved with a simple water tank by simply recycling rainwater.

Obviously the exact amount of water you can save will entirely depend on the amount of rainwater your area receives but collecting and recycling this water is more than likely to be substantial. The idea is to place your water tank under a roof drain downspout so that when it rains it collects this water that would be running off your house. You can buy water tanks easily from many different places but it is possible to build one yourself if you wish to be even more environmental.

All the materials you’ll need to make your own water tank will be available at your local hardware store, the main item you need is a plastic drum. Lots of soft drink manufacturers will be willing to sell you a 200 litre plastic drum which will be ideal. This drum will probably need a hole drilled into the top of it, which some people like to put a screen over to filter what enters the drum. If your roof gutter system already has a filter then you may not need to.

Usually the best way is to put the tank up on blocks so that it is raised from the ground, this helps protect the ground beneath the tank. It also makes it easier to access the water for when you wish to recycle it. You will probably have to move the height of your downspout so that it is slightly above the top of the tank.

Once you have done this you will need to attach a hose to your tank so that you will be able to arrange watering your garden. The simplest way is to drill a hole at the bottom of your drum and glue in an adapter you can attach a hose to. Never again in the summer will your plants have to suffer and you can water them entirely guilt free!

Fire In The Hole: The Causes And Effects Of Manhole Fires

Friday 29 May 2009 @ 7:53 pm

No one thinks too much about manholes until there is a problem with one. The most common issue that may come up with a manhole is an electrical fire: here is what causes them and how they are best handled.

Have you ever been driving along the street, only to see dark smoke billowing out from somewhere underneath it? Chances are there is a fire down in a manhole, and, although they are generally considered a rare occurrence, you are more likely to see one in the wintertime than in the summer.

These underground electrical fires are usually caused by melting ice and the salt that is put down on the roads in stormy conditions. When the salt melts the snow and ice, the water and ice filter down through a manhole cover and will land on the underground electrical equipment and wiring. Salt is extremely corrosive, and it may cause these delivery systems to begin to deteriorate. Wires may begin to slow burn as a result, creating a cloud of combustible gases such as carbon dioxide and neoprene gas.

This highly flammable cloud could ignite at any time, endangering any people or cars that may be passing by. Even if the smoke seems more like a trickle, the hazardous nature of the situation should never be underestimated. The trickle may suddenly change into a pressurized and dangerous cloud.

If your or another person’s car is over the manhole when the fire starts, do not try to drive it off of the manhole; just exit the vehicle immediately and get clear. If the smoke were to ignite while you are trying to drive your car away, it might mean severe injury or even death.

The fire department should be called immediately since they have the equipment and the experience to handle these kinds of fires. Although it may be tempting to stand around and watch until help arrives, it is by no means the smart thing to do. A manhole cover weighs more than an average man, but a manhole explosion could easily send the cover flying high into the air. When it lands, it is guaranteed to do severe damage to a person or property, or both.

Because the underground systems are interconnected, fire could easily spread from one manhole to another, endangering an entire neighborhood. Fire and other municipal officials will no doubt evacuate the area at their discretion. Under no circumstances should lay people attempt to put the fire out with a household hose. Putting water directly into the hole can easily cause electrocution.

In short, handling a manhole fire is best left to professionals who know what they are doing. If you are near the site when such a fire breaks out, it is best to leave immediately and encourage all other passersby to do the same. Then call 911.

The Pros and Cons of Solar Power At Your Home

Friday 29 May 2009 @ 12:06 am

People are finding ways to save money. At the same time, they would like to have multiple benefits from one single act. With gas and oil prices skyrocketing, people are turning to use solar power to help them get the electricity bill down. Before you consider whether solar power is the way to go, there are a couple of things you need to consider, namely the benefits and costs.

Advantages:

Firstly, when you use solar power, you are helping the earth because you are using a natural resource to get the energy that you need. You help reduce air pollution at the same time you get your electricity. Indeed, this is a beneficial for all people involved, and you are doing your share in helping to save the earth to save in a big way.

Secondly, when you use energy from the sun, basically you will have an endless supply because this energy source by definition will not go away, anytime soon, unlike our traditional sources of energy like gas or oil.

Thirdly, with a solar power accommodation, you will cut your electricity bill by a significant amount. That by far is the biggest advantage in using solar power.

Fourthly, with a solar power home, little maintenance is required for a solar power system. With solar energy, there are no parts that move and the solar cells will last for your lifetime, so there is hardly any maintenance required. This means that you don’t have to figure maintenance cost into your budget every month because there won’t be any.

Now that you know the advantages, you need to know the disadvantages of a solar power home.

Disadvantages:

First, it can be very expensive to get a system installed. You will have to research this to be sure of the cost to power your entire home. There are people every day working to make the cost for this energy source cheaper, but until they do, it is still expensive to use. You can build your own system by getting a manual to teach you how to do it. This will cut down on how much it costs you for a solar power home.

Secondly, the biggest drawback perhaps is that if the sun is not shining, then you can get any energy. Therefore, consistency and reliability may become an issue.

These reasons are not inclusive, but these are the more important ones. You need to take time to research to decide for yourself if you want a solar power home. Solar power has its benefits, but also its drawbacks, so make your decision carefully.

Landscaping With Bamboo: Know The Facts

Wednesday 27 May 2009 @ 5:24 pm

Southern gardening presents its own unique challenges, along with some very real advantages. One of the advantages is that the mild semitropical climate of states such as Louisiana offers gardeners a greater range of possibilities. If you are a southern gardener considering planting bamboo, here are some quick facts.

– Bamboo has sometimes been slapped with an unfair label in the past: uncontrollable. But like any prolific plants, they can be contained and become a beautiful addition to any landscape when the gardener seeks advice from a bamboo professional. There are two basic types: running and clumping. Both are classified as grasses and when grown in the right climate they are easy to keep healthy. Depending on the type you choose, plants can range in size from mere inches to over 100′ tall!

– Tall bamboo makes an outstanding privacy “hedge” because of its dense foliage. Gardeners have also used it to cover large areas and create their own private forest. The stalk of the bamboo is what is most decorative, and when stripped of its foliage the colors really stand out. Some are golden colored, others are striped, some are variegated and yet others are even black.

– Clumping Bamboo
This type of bamboo is perfect for gardeners who want a lower-maintenance plant that will not grow as quickly. It will become fuller over time, like all perennials, but their root structures will not allow it to grow more than a few inches a year. These grow to a variety of heights and make excellent hedges and ornamental screens.

– Running Bamboo
If you have room to spare and want to create a real bamboo forest, this type might be just right for you. This type of bamboo spreads through underground rhizomes that are able to cover large distances quickly. However, if you don’t want to have a forest, the rhizomes run very shallow and installing underground buried edging will prevent its spread. Some types, like the “Moso” variety, can soar to 75′ high and will boast 7 inch diameter culms. Thanks to a Moso grove’s extensive overhead leaf canopy, temperatures within such a forest can be 15 degrees cooler than in the rest of the garden: a feature that is always attractive to southern gardeners!

–Ornamental Bamboo
Many of the most colorful types of ornamental bamboo are the ones that feature unusual coloration. When these are kept in contained areas, they become stunning focal points in any landscaping scheme and come in a large variety of different heights.

If you are interested in planting bamboo, it is always best to consult with a nursery that specializes in this fascinating and unusual plant. Trained botanical professionals will be able to advise you best on what type to choose and how to grow it as well as contain it.

A Flood Can Take You With It If You Do Not Get Out Of The Way

Monday 25 May 2009 @ 11:18 am

Have you been in an area that had a lot of flooding at one time and have seen the damage left behind? Some of you probably have never seen what a great moving mass of water is capable of doing to something in its path. This running mass of water will move or destroy anything standing in its way. It has no thought as to where it is going or what it might destroy. The faster the water is moving, the more it will damage. It has been known to completely wipe out entire towns and many of the people living there as well.

This flood damage might be visible for years to come as it will stay on the buildings that were able to still be standing. In most cases of high flood water, if you do not have some warning, you might not be able to get out of its way. Not only will this water damage all you have, but it can also destroy or damage the land and every living thing there. It will tear up the trees and knock out bridges like sticks. It can take out electric poles like tooth picks sending you into darkness. When it is over you will be stuck with the damage.

This damage will have to be dealt with as soon as possible. If you made it out of the area, you will be allowed back in as soon as the water is gone and the storm that brought it in is gone also. You might not be ready to face the damage that is left. Your house might be gone along with everything else. You will have to find the number to your insurance companies main office because your local office might not be there either. What would you do if your local bank was gone also and this was a locally owned bank? Most of the banks anymore have several in the neighboring cities, but you still have some of these locally owned ones. What would you do without any money or anyway to find any for the time being?

This is the best reason to have an emergency bag packed for just this reason. Put this bag with whatever you think you might need to cover you and each member of your family for a few days. Make sure that you put some extra money in it as well. Make a list of all the numbers that you will need so that you will be able to get what you need and the people that are important. Even some that just people you know or the companies that you will need to call. These might be the professionals that you will need to help repair whatever is left.
