Power Of Hypnosis - What It Can Do To Our Lives

Wednesday 5 August 2009 @ 2:36 pm

Gone are those days that the power of hypnosis is limited only to public entertainment and commanding an individual to do what you want them to do.

Hypnosis nowadays is not only popularly used as a therapy to complement medical treatments but it has also been used in many problems and issues in life like overcoming phobias and fears, overcoming anxiety and many worries in life, losing weight and many other issues in life that we often have difficulty to face for ourselves.

Indeed, the power of hypnosis is not limited to our aims of having a healthy life. It has also been used in developing motivation in life to get what you desire and want. Others have used the power of hypnosis together with visualization as a tool in attracting wealth, happiness, love, and abundance in life. For some, they have sought the power of hypnosis to be convincing in conversations, specifically if they want to succeed in their businesses and in sales in particular.

Indeed, our subconscious mind is a powerful tool that we sometimes tend to ignore. Our subconscious plays a big role in our problem solving every time we are faced with challenges in life, and it is also a great tool in finding ways to achieve our goals in life. Our subconscious stores information we have accumulated throughout the years and information that sometimes we think do not already exist, and we tend to disregard them but they could affect how we live our lives today.

Our subconscious minds can be a vault of hidden talents or abilities, it can be a great source of motivation and inspiration and it can be a means to solve our problems and a way to achieve what we want in life. Reaching out to our subconscious minds through the power of hypnosis can indeed make a difference and this is one way that we can positively use hypnosis in our lives. Although there are also known unethical uses of the power of hypnosis, you have to remember too that you will never succeed in achieving what you desire and you dream of if you are doing it for negative purposes. In the law of attraction, positive attracts positive, and the negative attracts the negative. Even thinking negative may affect the way you live your life and you will never get that great life you always wanted if you are harnessing your mind to negative deeds.

To heal our physical bodies and improve our mental health, hypnosis is also used in relieving pain - from pain after surgeries to dental pain to labor pains. It is also used in overcoming anxiety, phobias and trauma or stress of those who were abused. Even if you just want to manage the daily stress in your life from your busy career and challenging family life, hypnosis can be of help. Other ways in which the power of hypnosis is helpful is in weight loss, a program that we often fail if we leave it of with our conscious minds to decide.

Hypnosis helps us overcome our self-doubts, bring back lost self-confidence and help us motivate ourselves to reach our goals, work for our goals, attracting our desires and dreams and in making our desired life a reality.

Carolyn Anderson overcame some her fears through the hypnosis. To learn about the using hypnosis to get what you want in life, check out Hidden Secret Hypnotic Visualization. Also check out I Create Reality, where you find ways to attract abundance in life.

The Power Of Conversational Hypnosis - What Can It Do?

Wednesday 29 July 2009 @ 9:25 am

The power of conversational hypnosis or covert hypnosis lies on how you use them. If you want to learn the technique of hypnotizing people through conversations, it is important that you do not use them for any unethical and illegal means. This skill will be and can only be beneficial if you are responsible enough to use it not to bring harm and trouble to your fellow.

What is Conversational Hypnosis? How is it done?

As its name suggests, conversational hypnosis is usually carried out with a casual conversation. It is also termed covert hypnosis, as the person being hypnotized does not have any idea about the hypnosis. In this technique, you will be able to make the other person agree or do what you want him to do. Most often, sales people who want you to buy their products use this technique and some others may use this in settling disputes and arguments.

The steps most often involved in this type of hypnosis include (1) building rapport, (2) confusing the subject and (3) giving suggestions. In doing this type of hypnosis, active listening is important. It is important to note too that learning the skill to be successful in covert hypnosis can be quite difficult and it may lead you to failure many times before becoming an expert on it. In fact, there are only a few experts in this field and if you want to learn it, you should learn it from the experts themselves.

What can conversational hypnosis do?

Persuasion is one thing that you can do if you master the skill of covert hypnosis. In fact, the power of conversational hypnosis lies on persuading people to agree and do what you want without any force. It is important to understand though that the power of this hypnosis has limits especially if you are persuading a person to do something that is way beyond his inner beliefs. If you want him to do things that he will never do in his normal state like doing harm to another person, he will just snap out of the hypnotized state.

Bringing the person into a hypnotic state through casual conversations can help you in many aspects. Here are some things that can be possible through the power of conversational hypnosis:

- Influence people to follow your lead

- Persuade clients to buy your products

- Help a person deal with difficult situation and traumas in his life

- Get a better stand in negotiations

- Solve arguments and build great relationships

- Provide help in professions - like counseling and managing people

- Get people to agree with your suggestions and proposals

- Get a promotion or get the job you want

- Get your children to follow rules.

The power of covert or conversational hypnosis is great and amazing but one very important thing to keep in mind is that, this technique is there to help you fulfill your dreams but not to deprive others of their dreams and definitely not something that you can abuse.

Carolyn Anderson recovered from her fears through hypnosis. For a complete course on hypnosis, check out The Power Of Conversational Hypnosis. Also check out Hidden Secret Hypnotic Visualization, where you can find ways to tap the power of your subconscious.

Uses of Hypnosis - Conditions Where Hypnosis Can Be Helpful

Monday 27 July 2009 @ 11:39 pm

The uses of hypnosis in the olden times had negative connotation with the idea of putting someone into a spell that will make them do what you say. Today, hypnosis has popular uses in medicine and in dealing with psychosomatic illnesses from skin disorders, menstrual problems to stomach disorders. Even in illnesses where the usual treatment has failed, hypnosis can also be an alternative to find treatment and healing.

Hypnosis can be done in different ways. Most often, when we talked about hypnosis, we often associate it with those ’spells’ and swinging pendulums but hypnosis can also be done even without the person knowing it. This type is the conversational hypnosis where hypnosis is done through casual talking, which is also used in a lot of aspects of every day life from getting a sale to convincing and persuading people to believe in you.

The most common type of hypnosis that is used in treating medical conditions though is the one where you are assisted by a hypnotist to go into trance state.

For specific uses of hypnosis, let us find out what can hypnosis do to us and when is hypnosis beneficial to our body.

Losing Weight

If you are one of the millions of people who are constantly struggling to get your ideal weight and there seems to be no program or exercise that can help motivate yourself to trim down, hypnosis can be used in helping you relax and enhance motivation and self-control. The hypnosis session may be long term but you can learn the necessary skills to continue on your own.

Fears and phobias

Fears and phobias are obviously makings of the mind and the thoughts and hypnosis has been useful in overcoming them. For some people, a single session can be enough to eliminate their phobias and fears.

Controlling pain

Have you seen those firewalkers who fearlessly tread those burning coals without feeling the pain? One of the many uses of hypnosis is controlling pain in your body. It is even used in giving birth to help ease the pain in childbirth. You can also learn self-hypnosis so you can actually practice it on your own every time you are faced with pain. This is especially true in controlling dental pain which you can overcome through self-hypnosis.

Building confidence

Self-confidence is one of the most essential things we need to have to be able to achieve success in everything we want to do. Lack of self-confidence is most often triggered by thoughts about failing and self-doubts and hypnosis is said to be useful in reprogramming what we think about ourselves as well as changing our undesirable behaviors and thoughts. Athletes have also sought the help of hypnosis in building more confidence to improve their performances. Most athletes have also noticed improvements in their performances immediately when they practice hypnosis.

Managing stress

Hypnosis is also known to relieve stress, and in this case, the results are seen almost immediately. Aside from stress, it is also used in overcoming anxieties and problems in concentration.

If you want to quit smoking and just do not have enough motivation to quit the addiction, one of the many uses of hypnosis is also helping you quit smoking. Improvements are also said to be noticeable in short period of time.

Indeed, hypnosis has become useful in many things in our lives particularly in dealing with a stressful environment and most importantly, in overcoming some illnesses and health issues that sometimes are just created by our thoughts.

Carolyn Anderson is a freelance author who overcame her fear of snakes through hypnosis. To learn about conversational hypnosis, check out Power of Conversational Hypnosis. For hypnosis course, check out The Underground Hypnosis Course.

An Explanation Why Women Can’t Park

Friday 24 July 2009 @ 9:44 pm

Often the butt of chauvinistic mischief, women’s parking skills have a very bad press. Are women genuinely poorer at maneuvering a vehicle than men or have a few isolated incidences been responsible for widespread ignorant generalisation? Well, statistically more men have accidents, particularly young men, at higher speeds, while more women have slighter accidents such as when reversing so there is some degree of truth. So why would this be the case?

Sport is something which highlights a divide between male and female and this is not just down to physical strength. Men, in general, appear to have better control over motor skills: they have better coordination of their limbs and better understanding of spatial awareness. These are vital skills for achieving at any sport, yet they are not things you can necessarily tie to a person’s sex. There is no physical reason why women should not be just as skillful as men. Certainly the difference in strength is a primary cause for the gap in quality within many sports. Greater physical strength makes men more powerful and faster, giving them an advantage in sports like football or tennis. A difference in skill levels is often very clear though and this ties in with parking a car because it is a base level of control and judgement that determines the efficiency of the action.

Boys are very commonly brought up with pre-concieved ideas of associated activities for different sexes and parents instinctively encourage more playful activities for boys over a longer period of time. Fathers are more likely to join in games and sports and provide an example. A boy more naturally identifies with their father while a girl identifies with their mother. Role models are a huge influence on childrens’ behaviour and this results in them adopting different activities. Boys often end up training their motor skills, coordination and spatial awareness through more physical play than their female siblings. Adolescence is a crucial time for learning and the most influential for development.

Contrasting behaviour at a young age has a big affect on later abilities. This goes a long way to explaining why men might have more success at parking their cars. Motor skills and hand-eye coordination are not the vital factor in parking a car, but spatial awareness is. Good spatial awareness comes from training the brain to predict movement and understand measurements in relation to moving objects. Games and sports are very good for this so boys tend to garner a better understanding from a young age. Later in life men’s abilities might appear like a natural intuition, because their life probably doesn’t involve any more physical activity than female colleagues, but this basic educational foundation from childhood is actually the reason behind their advantage.

Think about how you play with your children and how they play amongst themselves or how you played when you were a child. How does this measure in relation to different sexes? Training muscles and brains while they are still growing and developing is the best way to solidify life skills. So the next time you glide into your parallel bay or you perform a 7-point turn, thank/curse (delete as applicable) the hours of your youth and not your sex.

The Mental Benefits Of Exercise

Thursday 23 July 2009 @ 2:19 pm

For the past 50 years, doctors and researchers have found that there are benefits from physical exercise as it relates to a persons overall health. Right after the 60’s through the end of the 70’s, research confirmed that a regular exercise regimen provided benefit in reducing the risk of heart disease significantly in people. Additional review and studies found that performing exercise regularly also helped minimize a much larger group of physical health issues (colon cancer, diabetes, elevated blood pressure, and even death, etc.). In the 1980’s we began to discover the positive impact of exercise on mental health. Since then several studies have demonstrated that depression, anxiety, and stress can be significantly reduced as a function of exercise.

Research that is more recent has yielded some amazing findings on the impact of exercise on the brain itself. In a newly released article in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, cognitive neuroscientists Art Kramer (University of Illinois) and Kirk Erickson (University of Pittsburgh) evaluated a number of studies indicating that exercise not only slows down brain aging but can actually increase brain tissue and improve brain functioning. The benefit of exercise has even been demonstrated with Alzheimer’s patients. This is a profound realization, since brain mass typically shrinks with age and can influence cognitive decline in older adults. In fact, a reversal of this process resulted from as little as six months of exercise. The bottom line is that we now know that exercise does not just keep the body healthy but the mind as well.

This brings a heightened concern to our ever-increasing sedentary lifestyle, where children and adults are spending more and more time in front of computer screens. It is estimated that approximately half of the population ages twelve to twenty-one who are not physically active and that physical activity declines dramatically during adolescence. This is usually true for female. This is consistent with local findings that only one-third of high school seniors report participating in vigorous physical activity (YRBS, 2007). As many of us know, this trend continues into adulthood. It is estimated that 60% of American adults are not regularly active and 25% are not active at all.

What is encouraging about the above research is that it is never too late to enjoy the benefits of exercise and even small amounts of exercise (e.g. going for a walk) can be helpful. For our own physical, mental, and neurological health, we need to incorporate some level of physical exercise into our normal routine. As parents, we need to educate our children regarding the importance of exercise as well as modeling these behaviors ourselves. Creating opportunities to do fun physical activities on a regular basis is a way to get started. This also provides an opportunity to spend time together as a family.

Focusing on enjoyable activities, (basketball at the local park, a bike ride on the Boulder Creek path, swimming at the local recreation center, etc.) will increase the likelihood that you will follow through and continue. The key is taking that first step.

“Go Take A Hike,” is something that every parent probably says to his or her children and others. Although the actual motivation for the statement is different, the outcome is beneficial. So the next time you hear it, do not get insulted. Just think of it as someone who is trying to help you out with an exercise suggestion.

Your brain and overall well-being will thank you for it.

Exercise benefits the brain as well as your muscles. Adding exercise to your lifestyle not only feels good, it is very therapeutic for your soul and can help with marriage relationship problems and other more boulder mental health therapies.

Your Imagination Is Your Greatest Gift

Sunday 5 July 2009 @ 9:34 pm

The imagination is a very powerful and uniquely human trait. What separates you and I from every other speicies on the planet? It’s the ability to use our minds in powerful and creative ways. More specifically, it’s the capability to dream and imagine anything we want… and in so doing, bring that dream into reality.

Your imagination can take you anywhere. You can see in your mind’s eye destinations you have not yet experienced. And it can teach you things you wouldn’t know any other way. Your imagination is your key to creating results in your life, therefore, it’s one of the most powerful gifts you posess.

What can you imagine yourself seeing and experiencing? What can you imagine accomplishing in your life?

If you can “see” it, you can create it. Imagine it and it’s within your reach. Make whatever you imagine of vital importance to you and you set the wheels in motion to manifest exactly what you desire.

Your life is the result of what you have imagined so far. Before you can accomplish anything - you must first imagine yourself actually doing it. If you think you can, you can. If think you can’t, you most assuredly won’t.

But dreaming alone will get you nowhere. Imagination alone does not bring you the results you want. That takes action; one step at a time, moving in the same direction. Let your imagination point the way. Then folow through to make it happen.

Within your imagination is the secret to manifestion a beautiful life - the life of your dreams. If you want to fully experience the pleasure of fulfillment, you have to see it first in your imagination.

In your imagination, the sky is the limit. Whatever you envision in your imagination lays the foundation for what you are about manifest in your reality. Using your imagination creatively is a necessary first step. It helps you prepare to do things you’ve never done.

Do a simple exercise. Imagine yourself as small as a tiny spec of dust on the floor of your home. What can you see from that perspective that you cannot see from your usual perspective? Can you imaging what the inside of a car engine looks like while in use? Think about how the center of the universe might look as you sail through it in a spaceship. These simple examples can show you how easy it is to engage your imagination and begin visualizing. The next step is to use this new-found skill to imagine your life exactly how you want it.

All you do is visulize yourself performing a certain task. Do it repeatedly and the actual act is much easier to accomplish. Your imagination can also improve and even perfect those tasks you’ve already done. See the improvement as your new reality, then watch what happens.

Simple Visualization Exercises Anyone Can Do

Sunday 5 July 2009 @ 9:22 pm

Visualization is big word that describes a simple, yet powerful and effective technique for creating whatever you want.

Before we get into specific visualization exercises you can do to get the most out of your sessions, let’s briefly explain the process.

When visualizing, the first thing you need to do is relax. Once you’ve reached a deep level of relaxation, you enable yourself to connect with the Universal Mind or Spirit.

Don’t let that spook you — it’s an amazing process and once you experience this amazing feeling, you’ll want to revisit it again and again.

Once you’re in a deep state of relaxation (whether you’ve felt a connection or not) it’s a matter of monitoring your thoughts. The goal is to free your mind of the mental chatter of multiple thoughts, issues of the day and concerns. Once you’ve reached this blissful state, you simply imagine your goal or dream result. Get a picture in your mind’s eye of you in possession of the desired object or conditions. That’s what visualization is all about.

There are a few keys to making the process of visualization work for you. First and foremost, you’ve got to feel what it’s like to have the result you want. Feelings are a key component. Get a deep sense of what it will be like when your goal is manifested. Assume ownership of that goal. Make it yours. As Bob Proctor says, “name it and claim it.” What you’re doing at this point is creating the mold in spirit of what you will soon realize in the physical world. Repeat the process over and over again until what you want is yours.

When it comes to specific visualization exercises, step number one is to find a quiet, peaceful place where you can be alone for about 15 minutes or so.

Natural settings are great, weather permitting, of course. A forest path, quiet stretch of beach, park bench, or even the bank of a stream have all proven to be excellent natural settings to engage in creative visualization.

Now here a few easy visualization exercises to quickly reach a state of relaxation. Simply repeat the word “relax” again and again, slowly, purposefully, feeling more relaxed with each occurrence.

Deep breathing is another visualization exercise that will help you relax deeper and deeper. Another technique is to count down from one to ten. As you do so, imagine that you’re descending a staircase and each step down takes you to a deeper level of relaxation. Try it. It works like magic.

Once you’ve reached a peaceful, relaxed state of mind, you’ll still find a myriad of random thoughts entering your consciousness. These visualization exercises will help. Strive to offer no thoughts.

As you notice your mind thinking about something, simply release the thought. Imagine yourself staring into space. Or imagine a giant white screen in front of you with nothing on it but blank space.

Whenever you catch your mind thinking about something, simply return to the blank screen. When you offer no thoughts, you offer no resistance, so you vibration rises automatically.

Now take that blank screen and play a movie featuring you in possession of the goal you seek. Make it vibrant, exciting and alive, with you playing the starring role.

This is another visualization exercise that works very well. Another similar approach is to imagine that you’re being honoured for your lifetime achievements.

As part of the ceremony, there’s a PowerPoint presentation featuring numerous stills of you doing, having, and being all that you’ve imagined. Put yourself in that place and see yourself being congratulated by many people.

There’s no doubt that visualization is a powerful, creative tool.

If you only take these easy visualization exercises and put them to work on a consistent basis, there is virtually nothing in the world that is beyond your reach. The only question is, will you?

Fearful Thoughts In Anxiety

Friday 3 July 2009 @ 6:21 pm

Knowing what I know now would have saved me years of worry, which is, understanding that anxiety is normal in our everyday life we need it, however it becomes exaggerated when we are anxious. It heightens our senses making it over amplified and very sensitive to fear.

Reaction to fear on this level has to be confusing we search around for “real danger” but of course there is nothing tangible to get a hold of to physically strike out at. We therefore look within ourselves to place this free floating fear. As it has to be placed somewhere.

I underwent counseling, hypnotherapy, homeopathy, yoga, meditation started taking vitamins I read quite a few self help books, these all helped in their own positive way but did not get rid of my symptoms. I also tried fighting my thoughts; ignoring them, pushing them away this definitely did not work.

The fear we subsequently experience manifests itself in response as fearful thoughts, physical worries and sensations. We retract from this and question it, clueless as to why it appears, naturally we try to fight, what we do not realize is that the fighting the questioning and running away keeps the fear going, fear it would seem needs fear to survive.

My illness started with anxiety and because I became extremely mentally exhausted OCD followed. The way I recovered from my OCD was by the same principle as my recovery from anxiety.

My OCD consisted of thoughts of accidentally being responsible for someones death. For example if I dropped or even saw a fruit peel or a branch on the streets and did not pick it up, it would play on my

I would think what if someone steps on the peel? slips and falls in front of a moving vehicle and dies. I would then be responsible for this persons
death because I saw the peel and did not bother to pick it up.

I would have to return to where I had seen the peel and retrieve it, otherwise I would not have slept a wink that night and it would play on my mind all day. This was really as you can imagine making me unable to live a peaceful existence. I could not think of anything else other than whatever my lastest OCD fed me.

I finally did find my cure from anxiety and ocd you can to. I am happy to say that In my life at the moment on the very few occasions that I do experience “Anxiety Fear” is in stressful situations.

I might get a flash of anxiety fear fleetingly through my mind for a few seconds, really not worth a mention. I put this down to memory and perhaps a way of alerting me to stress in general.

Thoughts play an important part in keeping anxiety going do not forget that it is only “Anxiety Fear” not that you are going mad or about to collapse.

I sincerely hope that my own experience of anxiety will help you on your road to recovery.

My name is Bisola, married and a mother of 3 wonderful children. I suffered with anxiety for 20yrs I am now fully recovered.

Individual/Group Therapy & Marriage Therapy - Are They Worth The Healthcare Cost?

Friday 19 June 2009 @ 10:07 am

When looking for therapy, people do not realize most of the benefits they will receive by actually following through and going to therapy. Financial improvement is one of those items that you may receive.

It is interesting how an effective therapy leads to better financial security for some. The main benefit of utilizing psychologists and psychiatrists for therapy is the reduction you will see in your future medical expenses.

It is a known fact that much of the stress and in your day-to-day life is actually untreated mental health issues and with the cost of health care being so high nowadays, the cost saving over time after treatment begins actually pays for the cost of the therapies themselves. One research group determined that over a period of two to four years after treatment, the incident rate for illnesses went dropped dramatically.

Mental Health also plays a big role in a person’s job performance. As employers become more and more aware of sick day taken and the resulting person’s performance, they have noticed the overall quality of work decreases as the untreated mental health issues interfere with overall job performance.

Many companies have noted this and as a result, employee assistance programs as now setup in most major companies to assist the employee with any short-term issues that requires psychotherapy to resolve. They have also commenced pre-screening existing employees for those who may benefit from any long-term therapy.

When in positions of extreme responsibility (C level officers, high-level directors, etc) there is also something called “Life coaching,” that helps those individuals handle the day-to-day items that can affect their psychological make-up. As more and more people face an uncertain future in the workforce, these coaches can also be used to assist other types of employees handle their work stresses too. In the end, psychotherapy of this type helps individual successfully improve their lives, gain promotions as available, or help prepare them for a new job or work situation.

Regarding life at home, many things there can cause mental problems in people and drive up healthcare costs. Some of the items at home that affect people are, “relationship issues, divorce, and child rearing.” Marriage counseling, individual, and group therapies are used to curtail the non-mental health medical costs that may arise. Again, a few dollars spent now for proper psychological therapy means less need for therapy or other medical care in the future.

Preventive mental health care is extremely crucial in minimizing long term medical and mental health costs. The only way to achieve these savings is to have yourself evaluated. Most mental health therapy providers will be happy to discuss options with you regarding an initial evaluation.

From there you can consider whether individual therapy, group therapy, marriage therapy/counseling, or all three (3) may be the thing for you.

Richard Barthallo researches and writes about exceptional therapists and therapy groups in Boulder Colorado. You can find a quality boulder therapist for boulder marriage counseling.

Useful Ways to Overcome Depression

Monday 15 June 2009 @ 4:58 pm

Statistically, approximately 1 out of 8 people suffer from depression in the course of their lives. Depression can be related to stressful life events like the loss of a loved one. It can be a long term but mild depression, or it can manifest as a severe depression that renders a person, unable to get out of the bed in the morning. If you have ever suffered from depression, you know that regardless of its form it makes many aspects of your life more challenging.

If you are experiencing sadness, grief, or a depressive like state in response to a difficult like event, it is important to gather support and give yourself time to feel your feelings. If you know someone who is going through a difficult time you can help them understand the importance of doing the things on this list:

Make sure that other people know how you are feeling. Do not assume that they know how badly you are feeling just because they know the situation.

Ask them to check in with you. It is crucial that you give your support people this instruction. They may not be certain how to support you.

Be as clear as you can be about what helps. Do you need them to just listen? Do you need them to stay even if you do not pay any attention to them? Let them know how they can be there for you.

Do not isolate. If you are thinking that you really just want to be left alone, this is often a symptom of how you are feeling. People are very important to help you move through this situational depression.

Take care of yourself. Make a list of things you used to do to take care of yourself when you were not feeling so sad. Do one of these things each day.

For those who are suffering from moderate and, especially, from severe depression, or think you might be, doing what you might intellectually know is the best for you, in this condition, often seems impossible. You will benefit from support the same way that someone with a situational depression might but you will also need to try additional tools.

Get professional support. If you have been suffering from depression or think that you might be suffering from it, consult a qualified professional. Many factors can contribute to your depression, and a professional will be best able to determine which interventions will be most effective.

Make a list. Make a list of things you used to do for enjoyment when you are not depressed. Do one of these things each day.

Get moving. Push yourself to make your bed and get dressed. Although you might resist the very thought, taking care of business does really help you feel better.

Know that you can get through this. Depression can lead us to believe that we will always be depressed. This is not true. You can overcome your depression or find ways to maintain a depression free state.
