Common Sense Should Tell You Rechargeable Electronics And Water Are Not Compatible

There are some electronics that we take with us everywhere we go now. Thanks to rechargeable batteries, we can carry along with us our digital cameras, blackberries, cell phones, laptops, and I pods.
People all over the world stay connected with each other using these devices. It is to be expected that with all of that traveling around these valuable items are bound to be damaged, lost, or stolen. One of the most common mishaps with these kinds of gadgets is when they get wet. You would think that people would have sense enough to know to keep them away from water, but evidently they do not.

Laptops are likely to have something spilled onto them rather than to become submerged. It is difficult to resist sitting a drink of some kind near one while you are working with it. It could be cola, coffee, or juice and these are the absolute worst drinks to spill on a laptop. The reason being that they are all sticky. When these liquids get inside a laptop keyboard and seep down into the circuitry, they could be damaged beyond repair. Even water can destroy one, but the chances of it working again are a little better if it is only water.

Cell phones can be tricky. People spill things on them too, but the smaller gadgets like cell phones, I pods, or digital cameras are more often than not dropped into water by accident. Swimming pools, bathtubs, and kitchen sinks are notorious for tearing them up. This is because people will often talk or listen to them while they are in a pool, cooking, or bathing in a tub. You would think they would know better, but they do not.

These items will often work again if the water is dried out thoroughly, but there is never any guarantee. Sometimes if you will just drain as much water out as you can and place them somewhere to dry out for a couple of days, they will sometimes work again. If you spill one of the sticky liquids on them, you can just about forget it unless you take it to a repair person and even then there will be little hope.

Beware when you take items such as these to be repaired. You should know they will usually charge you a fee even if they are not able to repair the item. They should tell you what the chances are that your cell phone or other rechargeable item can be repaired. Then you can decide whether the fee is worth it or if it would be easier and just as well to replace it with a new one.
