Creating The Home Theater Of Your Dreams

I am sure you know all about the things you like from a movie theater. That is why you are building your home theater, right? Theaters have a larger picture, clearer sound, and better snacks. While I cannot advise you on proper popcorn technique, you will have to recreate the other two elements to have a proper home theater. At the very least, you will need a large screen television. I suggest at least 27 inches across, measured diagonally of course, with a clear picture. You will also need at least four speakers, preferably six and equipment for splitting up the surround sound signal and sending it to your speakers. Finally you will need something to broadcast your movies, in surround sound, with a clear picture. Of course you then have to have a room dedicated to hooking all this up in. This is a demanding process is it not?

There are as many ways to meet this criteria as there are stars in the sky. When it comes right down to it, the way you set up your home theater depends on just how much money you really want to spend and how important each of the factors in performance are to you.

If you are doing this on a shoe string budget, and you already have a decent television and a stereo system, you could upgrade your system into a working home theater with just a few extra speakers and a number of other inexpensive components. This will not get you a home theater you want to entertain with, and you will not even come close to matching the movie theater in quality. If you want to invest in a basic surround sound system and you have a new DVD player, you might spend all of five hundred dollars on this project, and you will be in a little better shape. For a more advanced system, you will of course spend quite a bit more.

You will need a larger television as well as an advanced sound system. For these things, you might be looking at close to eight thousand dollars. If you really want the perfect system and you can drop thirty thousand dollars into it, you could set up a genuine theater with projection tv, built in speakers and recliners instead of theater seats. If you work hard on pricing your equipment, that might even get you a concession stand.
