How To Pack A Shipment Properly For Your Courier

Packing a shipment properly is very important to insuring that the package is protected and safe to be shipped. Many Denver couriers will pack your shipment but that may require additional charges for that service.

1. First, and foremost you need to protect your shipments from any liquid or weather which your package might come into contact with. The Denver courier service does the best to protect your shipments but weather is unpredictable and occasionally your packages may become wet, so it is important to protect whatever is within your package. Plastic wrap, or some type of a plastic bag around the outside of the contents should suffice.

2. You should be sure that your shipping address, (as well as your own address) is clearly marked on the shipping label. The most commonly made mistakes on shipping are due to a mislabelled and/or improperly marked packages.

3. Make sure that you properly fill out any documentation, forms or papers that your courier may provide to you, otherwise your package could end up being returned to you.

4. When packing your shipment, make sure the boxes you use are neither too small nor too large. Otherwise, you could either risk having your package broken or end up paying more than you originally expected to in order to have your shipment taken. Always find a box that comfortably fits your shipment without too much extra room.

5. Inside the box that you are shipping within, include a piece of paper that has the shipping and return address clearly marked on it. Often times, boxes and shipping labels can become damaged, and this ensures that the courier can find out where your shipment is still supposed to go.

6. Only use real packing tape. Inferior tapes that are meant for other purposes will not hold the weight packing tape is meant to and can result in packages spilling open, and the contents may become lost or damaged.

7. Especially if you are shipping a heavy product, be sure that you are using an exceptionally strong box. Boxes can be lifted improperly, repetitively, or become damp, any of which can weaken the box, and yours has to be strong enough to hold the product under those circumstances.

8. Ensure that breakable items are securely padded. You can use bubble rap or newspaper, as long as you don’t leave room for the item to shift. Loose breakable items usually result in broken items.

9. Anything that might melt, rot, spoil, or otherwise pass a best before date, you should not ship. Also don’t ship anything which might leak or is liquid unless it is sealed in a leak proof plastic container of some kind.

10. Do not ship in a box with previous shipping information or shipping labels on it which might confuse the courier in any way.
