Shedding Light On Common Bodybuilding Training Myths

The sport of bodybuilding is filled with many myths and this article will try to demystify some of these myths. The reason why it is important to shed some light on some of these myths is because they have caused many people not to succeed in achieving fast muscle growth. Some of these myths include;

1.No pain no gain

This is the oldest bodybuilding myth which has caused many bodybuilders not to progress in achieving fast muscle growth. This saying has caused many bodybuilders to over train thinking that they are going to achieve faster muscle growth. They end up getting gum injuries which may cost them there career to become professional bodybuilders.

2.Fad diets are the best way to lose fat

In order to lose weight you should avoid fad diets. This is because such diets will make you increase your weight since they decrease a person’s body metabolism. When you take fad diets the body goes into starvation mode and you start burning muscles instead of fat in order to generate energy. The depletion of body muscles is what slows down a person’s body metabolism.

3.The best way to achieve fast muscle growth is by using anabolic steroids

This myth is usually spread by the manufactures of anabolic steroids who through there fake commercials try to convince you how you really need to take steroids in order to succeed in bodybuilding. What they fail to mention is that the same steroids also lead to the following side effects; enlargement of the clitoris, irregularity of the menstrual cycle, growth of facial hair in women, shrinking of testicles in men, low sperm count, decrease in libido, baldness, kidney problems, liver conditions, heart ailments, insomnia, increase in aggression, and depression.

4.In order to lose weight you should prolong your workout hours

This myth has caused many people to spend hours in the gym thinking that they are achieving muscle progress. This however creates a lot of stress which is more than the body can be able to handle naturally unless you are on steroids. When you place too much stress on your body you will over train the body and this could lead to injuries. The other effect of placing too much stress on your body is that it could increase catabolism.

5.There is no professional bodybuilder who uses steroids

This is also another common myth spread by those professional bodybuilders themselves. Normally a bodybuilder is tested for steroid use during those bodybuilding competitions and that is why no professional bodybuilder wants to admit that they use. You cannot become a professional bodybuilder if you do not use steroids; this is because you cannot compare the results in terms of muscle growth of a person who uses steroids and a person who is not juiced up. People who are juiced up always have tremendous muscle growth compared to people who don’t juice up.

6.Rest is for the lazy during bodybuilding

This myth is very wrong, if you do not rest between workouts and when sleeping at night you will lose the already acquired muscles due to catabolism.
